radiant orchid

Pantone has recently announced the colour for 2014...Radiant Orchid.

Introducing a touch or fully indulging in this colour will add feminity to any space. 

As Pantone has stated, “An enchanting harmony of fuchsia, purple and pink undertones, Radiant Orchid inspires confidence and emanates great joy, love and health. It is a captivating purple, one that draws you in with its beguiling charm.”

An orchid when in bloom can make such a beautiful statement in nature so works so well with any green hue in an interior.

For those of us who like to take a risk, Radiant Orchid can be very effective when used with orange, yellow and even gold.

As I was researching this colour, I came to appreciate how fantastic Radiant Orchid can look when used in interiors. I hope the images below can inspire you to add a bit of colour to your home.

ahoy

Recently I had the pleasure of stumbling across a fantastic shop in Byron Bay, Ahoy Traders. I had not heard of Ahoy before but now I am seeing this name everywhere and cannot get enough of their products.
The store is an inspiration within itself. You walk in to be surrounded by rustic looking items with amazing splashes of neon colour and prints which beautifully incorporates the new with the old.
Ahoy is now best known for their Porthole tiles. Each tile has individual characteristics and beauty. With classic images and contemporary patterns, there is a quirky tile for everyone!
We can thank the artist Jai Vasicek for sharing his artistic flair and starting Ahoy Traders. You can see in his work that he is influenced by his travels to Brazil and has mixed this with his love for the coastal life of Byron Bay.
If you cannot wait to visit Byron Bay and see the store yourself, check out the local stockists who carry Ahoy pieces. In the meantime, treat your eyes to a taste of Ahoy!

7 vignettes

Last week Jen Bishop also known as Jen from the blog Interiors Addict hosted a challenge on Instagram, 7 Vignettes. This was also judged by the very well know Darren Palmer and consisted of well over 8,000 images from budding stylists on Instagram.

To see everyone's creativity was so inspiring and I have never found Instagram so addictive.

There were so many amazing photos but Darren had the hard job of picking only one winner, Dee, aka picturedthoughts. Congratulations to Dee and all that participated. I can't wait until next months 7 vignettes challenge!
